Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the ancient practice of noticing without judgment. Whether it is used as a gateway to higher spiritual growth or as a path to more balanced living, the applications of mindfulness are various, as are the ways to achieve it.

What is Dancing Mindfulness?

Developed by Dr. Jamie Marich, founder of The Institute for Creative Mindfulness, a clinical counselor and expert in traumatic stress studies, Dancing Mindfulness strives to honor the safety and integrity of each participant. The dancing mindfulness practice is an expressive arts experience open to everyone regardless of previous experience with dance, yoga, music or meditation.

Dancing Mindfulness uses the art form of dance as the primary medium of discovering mindful awareness. Dancing through seven primary areas of mindfulness-in-motion: breath, sound, body, story, mind, spirit, and fusion (of all elements), with a respect to the attitudes of mindfulness, participants tap into their body’s own healing resources and realize that we all have a unique creativity just waiting to be cultivated.

Founder and Director, Kasia Truefitt has undertaken training with Dr Jamie Marich in London and Los Angeles and Truefitt Collective have partnered with the Institute to exclusively offer Dancing Mindfulness to Primary Schools in the UK.

Dancing Mindfulness for Primary Schools

We specalise in using Dancing Mindfulness for Primary School children through clubs, training and programmes. Dancing Mindfulness offers a unique approach to children's wellbeing, combining movement, music and mindfulness-in-motion to create meaningful learning experiences. Children discover practical tools for managing emotions, reducing stress and developing self-awareness, while creative dance helps them explore these concepts in a way that feels natural, enjoyable and empowering.

Everything we do is designed to inspire children to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

DANCE CLUBS

Early intervention support helping children thrive in school.

Our dance clubs are fun and educational with a focus on improving stamina, co-ordination, core strength and dance technique.

Our team deliver high quality dance training focusing on different dance styles each week including: Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Street Dance. Our Dance Clubs provide children with the opportunity to learn new skills, develop confidence and work towards original dance productions at the end of the school term.

DANCING MINDFULNESS CLUBS

Our Dancing Mindfulness clubs use movement, music and mindfulness-in-motion to reach a place of greater awareness. The aim is to teach children about mindfulness and movement exercises that help reduce stress and anxiety and give them tools to understand and manage their emotions.

In our Dancing Mindfulness clubs, children learn and practice Mindfulness skills that can be used in everyday life, while also engaging in creative dance as a means of introducing, experiencing, and deepening their understanding of Mindfulness.

Dancing Mindfulness FAQS

  • SUCCESS STORIES

Teacher: "I would definitely recommend a visit from this wonderful company, the children were really engaged and four months later, the children are still using some of the terminology to help with grounding themselves. I believe this is a perfect start to embedding self-regulation strategies in school and the dance element increases our children's cultural capital"
